Menotti's sparkling, timeless story of Lucy's penchant for telephone communication leading to a lack of communication with her lover, paired with Telemann's touching (and comic...) tribute to a fallen master of song, with it's surprising revelation of "murder"! Featuring OPO regular soprano Nadia Petrella and the OPO début of baritone Mark Gough, known to Ottawa audiences through his appearances with Opera Lyra Ottawa and Pellegrini Opera. Also on the program: Salieri's Little Harlequinade (possibly an Ottawa premiere!) along with staged arias and duets.
I pagliacci by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, and Opera Highlights
Leoncavallo's incomparable tale of love, jealousy, and betrayal within a group of travelling performers, which includes on eof the most recognizable airs in all of opera, "Vesti la giubba", made famous first by Caruso.
